MADRING Completes Its First FIA Formula 3 Test Sessions and Is Ready for the Spanish Grand Prix

MADRING has completed its first official on-track tests with two days of FIA Formula 3 running, marking the circuit’s first major sporting activity ahead of the FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2026. During the sessions, held in preparation for the event taking place from 11 to 13 September, 30 drivers from 10 teams completed laps of the 5.4-kilometre Madrid circuit.

As well as allowing teams and drivers to become familiar with the track, the sessions provided an opportunity to assess the performance of the circuit and the operation of the sporting, technical, medical, safety and coordination systems deployed at MADRING. The second day enabled further mileage to be completed and a deeper understanding of a circuit featuring technical sections and distinctive elements such as La Monumental.

The tests also saw the deployment of a large-scale operational structure similar to the one that will be in place during the Grand Prix weekend. The operation included 120 track marshals, 60 healthcare professionals, nine ambulances, 23 firefighters, eight fire intervention vehicles, 30 rescue and recovery vehicles and 40 logistics coordination specialists. Throughout the two days, race control procedures, track operations, communications, signalling systems and vehicle recovery processes were activated.

The completion of the tests represents another milestone in MADRING’s preparations ahead of its competitive debut. The FIA Formula 3 cars that ran at the circuit this week will return from 11 to 13 September for the final round of the 2026 season, alongside the FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2026. With the track and its key operational systems now tested under real conditions, the circuit enters the final phase of preparations before Formula 1 returns to Madrid.
