“Monumental”, the official trophy of the FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2026
The ‘Monumental’ design, inspired by the most iconic corner of the MADRING circuit and created by the prestigious italian studio Pininfarina, is the winner of the first Grand Prix trophy to be awarded in Madrid.
The FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2026 now has its official symbol: Monumental, the trophy that will be lifted by the first winner in the new era of Formula 1 in Madrid. Inspired by the most distinctive curve of the MADRING circuit, the piece captures the spirit of the track and the ambition behind the project.
The trophy was presented at the Palacio de Cibeles during a ceremony led by two‑time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz, joined by authorities, sports representatives and cultural figures. With its unveiling, the Grand Prix takes another decisive step towards its debut from 11 to 13 September, marking the long‑awaited return of Formula 1 to Madrid after 45 years.
A design born from MADRING’s DNA
Monumental is built around a clear premise: transforming the essence of the circuit into a tangible object. The design takes the full MADRING layout and stretches it until it merges with the Monumental curve, the longest banked corner on the calendar and set to become the emblem of the new Grand Prix.
The piece plays with tense surfaces and precise lines to convey motion even at rest. A crimson red detail surrounds the trophy and incorporates the complete track layout, reinforcing its direct connection to the race and to Madrid’s identity.
A symbol chosen by a distinguished jury
The trophy was selected from three finalists by a jury made up of leading figures from the fields of art, design, culture and sport. Alongside Carlos Sainz, the panel included Guillermo Solana (Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum), Louise Young (Formula 1), Gonzalo Cabrera (IFEMA MADRID) and architect Teresa Sapey. Their decision highlighted the trophy’s ability to represent the Grand Prix as a whole.
The winning design, created by the Italian studio Pininfarina, stood out for its formal elegance and its capacity to turn a key element of the circuit into a recognisable and enduring icon. During the presentation, Sainz emphasised the significance of unveiling a trophy worthy of the event’s magnitude:
“Monumental will be more than a trophy: it will be the symbol lifted by the first champion in MADRING’s history and the representation of how we understand victory in Madrid.”
Madrid ready to make history
With Monumental, the FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2026 presents its first official symbol and gives shape to one of the most representative elements of its identity. The trophy anticipates the excitement of the moment when the inaugural winner raises it before the grandstands of the new circuit.
Madrid now advances toward a Grand Prix poised to become an international benchmark and one of the most significant sporting milestones of the Spanish calendar.
